Louisiana 4-H'ers Learn How To Be Positive Forces




Louisiana 4-H’ers are learning how to be positive forces in their communities.
Examples ranging from assembling "hero packs" to learning more about community service were seen this week (June 21-24) as nearly 1,600 4-H Club members from across the state participated in the LSU AgCenter’s 4-H University on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge.

Learning about Sustainable Housing


Louisiana 4-H'ers were given a tour of the LSU AgCenter's Louisiana House, LaHouse, during 4-H University, June 22. LaHouse is a Home and Landscape Resource Center operated by the AgCenter. The tour showcased sustainable housing and landscaping that is efficient, durable, healthy, convenient and practical. When it is completed, LaHouse will serve as a model for homeowners and builders.

Learning Computer Science



Louisiana 4-H'ers learn about Computer Science at the LSU AgCenter's 2005 4-H University. During 4-H University, 4-H'ers participated in many events, including Computer Simulation, Environmental Threat Resolution, Public Speaking and Photography.

4-H'ers Honored With Scholarships

A group of Louisiana 4-H’ers was recognized as scholarship winners Tuesday (June 21) during 4-H University in Baton Rouge.
The 4-H Club members, who excelled in project work and recordkeeping, served as club officers or otherwise distinguished themselves during their years in 4-H,were announced as scholarship winners during a banquet that honored them and other award winners. The scholarship winners also will be recognized during an assembly at 4-H University Wednesday evening. Pictures are available by clicking here and going to the list in the middle of the page.

Adults Honored for Service to Louisiana 4-H

Ten adults were cited for their contributions to the Louisiana 4-H program at a banquet Tuesday (June 21) during the LSU AgCenter’s 4-H University event.
Those recognized during the LSU AgCenter event included two AgCenter faculty members, two Ag Center secretaries, two parish school superintendents and four 4-H alumni.

The Time of Your Life


About 2,000 Louisiana 4-H'ers are on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge for the 2005 4-H University. The event, formally known as 4-H Short Course, attracts young people from all over the state for a week of learning and fun. Organizers say the name change reflects opportunities which are available at 4-H University. These opportunities include touring the campus, talking with students and faculty, visiting departments and finding out about career choices. The motto for this year's event is, "The Time of Your Life."
